The story of this fur from our customer:
"My Mother was beautiful, elegant, tall, slim and she loved fashion. She loved also ballroom dancing. She and Dad shared this interest throughout their long marriage and almost every Saturday evening they would attend a dance. During the 1950s and 1960s they were especially active and those were times when everyone ‘dressed up’ when they were ‘going out’ and women regularly wore furs – stoles, coats and jackets.
Mum had an extensive, glamorous wardrobe of evening dresses, some purchased from haute couture shops in Melbourne and others ‘made to order’ by a talented dressmaker. Many of these dresses were strapless. All were much admired.
During the winter ‘ball season’ Mum always teamed her ball dress with one of her several furs – not only for warmth but also for glamour. The fur ‘selected’ complemented the gown. She was a valued customer of the exclusive fashion department at Myer which in those was the place to go to. The fur department was extensive and this fur was purchased there in the early 1950s.
Mum stored her furs in the boxes in which they were originally packaged – usually with some lavender bags."
